The Wind and the Cape!

December 2nd, 2009

img00029We decided to follow the heritage of our brand this Thanksgiving and travel down to Cape Cod,  Mass for a few days. The weekend was full of great img00027times with family, and crazy weather.  We went from a day of downpours to beautiful sun and 50 MPH winds!  I was shocked at how much the seas were churned up, even on the inner harbor in Truro!  Just look at the white caps in these pictures!  Glad I had my Codfish Gear hoodie to keep me warm!

The Hull Chase Race

October 24th, 2009

race1Remember when there was consistently nice weather in Boston?  The competitors in the Hull Chase Race do.  We race2made our way out to see the competition a few weekends ago and took our Codfish Gear with us.  The race was out around Graves Light, down the main harbor with a finish near Hull.  The day was beautiful, and it was amazing to see more than 100 different sailboats all in one place.  What did we learn from our trip?  Sailor love Codfish Gear!  Join this group of hearty competitors and buy your Codfish Gear today.  There are more photos from race day on our page at www.facebook.com/codfishgear/

The All American Labor Day

September 17th, 2009

3Crowds were on hand for the 3rd annual All American Labor Day in Woolwich, ME this year.  Again, the Codfish Gear fans 100_1112were having fun and putting a Cod on their Bod.  With incredible views, a sea weed lobster bake featuring lobsters, clams, mussels, potatos, corn, hot dogs and eggs, how could you go wrong.  We even fit in a little pig skin and horse shoes into the dark.  Man, am I happy I had a Cod on my Bod for this one.  See more photos from the weekend on our Facebook group page at http://www.facebook.com/codfishgear/2

The annual Gold Cup was sailed at the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop, MA during Labor Day weekend, and it

certainly accomplished its goal of “Bringing sailing to the people.”  With over 8 boats and hundreds of on-lookers from the shores of Winthrop, the fleet set out on 3 fun races just off the club.  Codfish Gear co-founder was there to race the Red Dog and try and get ever closer to a win at this event.  However, he and his skipper Mike Gahan as well as crew Dana ended up playing second fiddle again.  Congrats to the winners!  You can see even more photos from the event on our Facebook group page at http://www.facebook.com/codfishgear/

Kayaking in Winthrop Harbor

August 18th, 2009

Since we are in the middle of a small heat wave in Boston, I decided to try my luck in a Kayak this week and explore Winthrop Harbor.  I’ve always100_1101 been used to being a few feet off the water and moving a bit faster in a sail boat, so the kayak was quite the change for me.  But Winthrop, MA is a great place to explore by paddle.  There is Snake Island, which is a bird sanctuary and even Belle Isle Marsh which is full of wild life.  So if you are looking for a place to give your Codfish Gear a work out, try spending some time in Winthrop Harbor.  You may even see a few of the enormous steel birds darting past.

Make-a-Wish Regatta

July 28th, 2009

This weekend, the Cottage Park Yacht Club is hosting the 15th Make-a-Wish Regatta to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Greater Boston.  This is a fabulous event that draws hundreds of sailors from across the state to compete and raise money for a great cause.  For the 6th year, Codfish Gear has designed and supplied the regatta t-shirts as well as made a donation of Codfish Gear and a custom made tote bag created from sail cloth by our Co-Founder Patricia McNamara-Vannoni to the event’s silent auction.  If you are in the area of CPYC this weekend, you should definitely stop by, bid on the auction items, buy some raffle tickets or even leave a donation for the cause.  It is in touch economic times like these that the Make-a-Wish Foundation needs our help even more.

Forza Inter!

July 28th, 2009

This weekend was the World Football Challenge at Gilette Stadium, and two of the biggest rivals in world soccer, Inter Milan and AC Milan, wheredscn01311 there to battle.  These two teams are like the Red Sox and Yankees in terms of their rivalry.  It turned out to be a beautiful day with the right team on top.  Inter scored within the first 5 minutes and never looked back.  In the end, Inter prevailed 2-0.  It was great to see my team win and we where both happy to have a Cod on Our Bod to keep the sun out of our faces.  There are more pictures on our Facebook fan page.  Tell everyone you know to become a fan of Codfish Gear on Facebook and LinkedIn.  We are trying to get both groups over 100 members!

Fans from the Bahamas

July 21st, 2009

I received a note and photo from one of our fans this week!  John and his wife Sharon recently made a trip down to the Bahamas, and John was2009_0620tripbahamas0076 sure to put a Cod on HIS Bod during the voyage.  After hearing about the days at the beach and swimming with Dolphins, I think the Bahamas sounds like a great vacation spot.  Thanks for the story John.  Your fan pack is on the way!

If you want to get a free fan pack, send us a picture of you with a Cod on Your Bod as well as a fish tale of your experience.  If we post it, we will send you a free Codfish Gear fan package in mail.

And always, Put a Cod on Your Bod!

another with some fans taking in the view.  This group of yacht admirers aboard the Blue Blazer actually came from all over to see these ships, including Los Angeles, California, Connecticut, Minnesota and even Japan.  Departing from the Cottage Park Yacht Club, they braved the heavy water traffic to see the floating works of art.  They tell me there are more pictures to come.  I’ll be sure to post them here and on our Codfish Gear Fan page on Facebook for you to check out!  Take a note from this group of salty dogs and Put a Cod on Your Bod!
