Over the last several weeks, Codfish Gear has been working with the organizers of the MIT Sloan Baltic cohort to create amazing sweat pants for their “ocean”. Codfish Gear even sold for the Baltics online! All proceeds from the sale of these items went toward the charity auction to benefit Hands on Disaster Response (HODR), a non-profit that helps with natural disaster recovery. Codfish Gear also gave some special items to the auction! Good luck MIT Baltics in supporting HODR! You can also donate to HODR at their web site, www.hodr.org

More than 30 boats ventured out to the Cottage Park Yacht Club on July 28 and 29, including the children of our very own Theresa McNamara. The event was a major success, and Theresa’s kids both did excellent in their first ever N-10 regatta. Theresa’s son Simon crewed for his friend Sam in boat 4232, ending up in 9th place overall. On top of that, Theresa’s daughter Cecilia co-skippered with her friend Kelsie in boat 4205, each sailing every other race. This group of novice ladies finished in 7th place. In addition, both girls were recognized with the Merryman Award for being the top skippers age 11 and under! The Merryman Award is a cup that goes back more than 60 years, and is a real honor to receive. Cecilia is even has a Cod on her Bod, wearing one of the Midget shirts created by Codfish Gear. This weekend, the Cottage Park Yacht Club is hosting the 15th Make-a-Wish Regatta to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Greater Boston. This is a fabulous event that draws hundreds of sailors from across the state to compete and raise money for a great cause. For the 6th year, Codfish Gear has designed and supplied the regatta t-shirts as well as made a donation of Codfish Gear and a custom made tote bag created from sail cloth by our Co-Founder Patricia McNamara-Vannoni to the event’s silent auction. If you are in the area of CPYC this weekend, you should definitely stop by, bid on the auction items, buy some raffle tickets or even leave a donation for the cause.
